Rhys Roberts - Deputy President

Hi, my name is Rhys Roberts and I am the deputy president of Marjon Students’ Union for 2017-18.

To give you an insight to myself, I was an Outdoor Adventure Education student and I was also a student Rep for my course.

I gained my place at Marjon through clearing and I turned up eager but nervous after a 6 hour train journey. It did not take long for one of the students’ union team to find me and help settle me in ready for the welcome evening. From this point on, I fell head over heels for Marjon, playing for a variety of teams as well as running mountaineering club and being the lacrosse club captain.

I engaged with University life not just though my degree or sports, but through the students’ union by being a part of the MSU social team and as a Resident Student Assistant. This allowed me to really embrace Marjon life and to meet hundreds of new friends that really make the most of my time at the university.

After discovering that I had been voted in as the deputy president, I realised that my mission was going to be one of creating a community for all and enhancing the student experience was going to be my task for the year ahead, and an enjoyable one of that.
