Hi, I’m Chloe Soby! I’m currently in my second year at Marjon studying Performing arts Education; which of course means most of my time is spent in the theatre. Working alongside the MSU as Women’s officer has been an exciting venture, I am currently in the process of organising the Women in leadership conference 2020; an event which I hope will be inclusive, diverse and promote the ethos of Marjon. Throughout my second year I have taken every opportunity available and as of so am now part of several boards representing students and giving individuals a voice. Through my role as RSA, student rep and Women’s officer I hope to create a wholesome environment, where students are mindful of others, feel safe and reach their fullest potential throughout the course of their degree.
Course- 3rd year Speech and Language Therapy.
I came to Marjon through Clearing. Marjon was the only university willing to talk to me and didn't just want to know my A-level results. Best decision I ever made picking up the phone that day.
What I love about Marjon- Being a small university there are so many opportunities. I've been social sec for 3 committees, an RSA, and I'm currently a student ambassador, president of the Snowsports club and equality & diversity officer.
Why equality & diversity officer- Rhys Rob originally suggested I go for the role. I had considered the role of women's officer, but he planted the seed for this role. For me, Marjon is a safe space that I can confidently be myself. Sadly, some people don't feel that way and I want to change that. I hope to create an environment where Marjon students feel they can educate their peers to increase awareness and along the way celebrate the uniqueness of our Marjon students.
